Former Wallabies skipper Wright signs for Welsh club Ospreys
Former Australia captain Liam Wright has signed for Welsh club Ospreys, with the flanker saying on Wednesday it was a chance to test himself in a different environment.
The 28-year-old Queensland Reds forward has barely played over the past year after being plagued by injuries, and is looking forward to a new start.
"I've actually got a bit of Welsh heritage, my grandfather was born in Pembroke, so I know it's a club with a rich history and passionate supporters," he said.
"This is a great opportunity for me to test myself in new waters."
South Africa-born Wright captained the Reds for six seasons and Australia coach Joe Schmidt appointed him skipper in 2024 for his first Test in charge of the Wallabies, against Wales.
But shoulder issues limited his time with the national team and he has been restricted to just six Tests.
